Often, we find some important documents like GST Certificate, Other Certificates, Permissions, Aadhaar Cards etc. are digitally signed but the signature is not verified or validated. Now let's know the procedure to Validate Digitally Signed documents using Acrobat Reader.
The documents, which are digitally signed but instead of signature there is an image showing “?” Mark as Validity Unknown as below screen.
This article describes the step by step guidance to Validate Digitally Signed documents using Acrobat Reader online.
For that, we have to use acrobat reader 11 or above version. If you don’t have, then download and install Acrobat Reader from the link given here under:
Now, follow the steps mentioned here under to Validate Digitally Signed documents with Acrobat Reader.
Step-1. Open the document using Acrobat Reader and Click on the e-Signed “?” marked image as in red box:
You will be prompted with the following "Signature Validation Status".
Step-2. Then click on the ”Signature Properties” button to check signature properties.
System will prompt a new pop-up with the button ‘Show Signers Certificate’ as follows :
Step-3. Click on “Show Signer’s Certificate” button will prompt you the next screen:
Here, you will find that there six tabs – Summary, Details, Revocation, Trust, Policies and Legal Notice as six different options are available.
Step-4. Click on the Trust tab to get the pop-up as below:
Step-5. And click on “Add to Trusted Certificates” button to change the trust setting.
Step-6. Now, click OK button displaying as above in the ‘Acrobat Security’ will prompt the next screen as below:
Step-7. Click all the check boxes in the “Import Contact Setting” window and click OK as below screen:
The next pop-up will appear as follows:
Step-8. Click OK button as “The selected certificate path is valid” to appear next pop-up as follows:
Step-9. Click “Validate Signature” button and once the certificate validation done, the approval remark will display as follows:
Finally, you have successfully validated the Digitally Signed document with Acrobat Reader.
